A city of possibilities

I’ve delayed in posting for awhile without a definite job offer or a news update, but life is not always that cut and dried. While I have not yet landed a full time position, I am making progress toward my goals and feel very close to something big.

Even though I am a recent graduate, I have had a year’s worth of amazing experiences, and I wouldn’t trade living in Spain for a year for anything. It does not make finding what’s next any easier, though.

What I learned in Spain:

My world’s perspective has been broadened.

I can communicate in Spanish.

I enjoy my time more.

I can think more creatively about solutions.

In Spain, I learned anything is possible. I can live in any city, and make it work. If I could live in rural Spain, I can make it work here. I think this time is so cool right now because whatever direction we go, any one opportunity can change our entire life path. Anything is possible. Instead of becoming overwhelmed with the possibilities, I should feel empowered to find what is best for me. Because it is out there. It just takes one little opportunity. And I am actively searching for it.

I love meeting new people at networking events. Everyone has their own experiences and great advice to share. The Mizzou Mafia has a really strong network here and the mafia is willing to bend over backwards to help. I could not have picked a better school to attend for journalism. I don’t think I appreciated it as much as I should have while I was attending, but in New York, I could not ask for a more helpful group of people.

I’ve had a fair share of fun among the meetups, applications and coffee dates.

Other highlights of my time here:

Taping of Good Morning America Concert Series with Tiffany and Debbie Gibson:

Governor’s Island with free bike rental:

Boating in Greenwich, Connecticut:

Yankees Game:

New York has so much going on and so many opportunities. Right now I am doing everything I can to meet contacts and to build my network, and I have really enjoyed the ride!
