Happy Chinese New Year and more exploring

My blog updates are becoming too few and far between. My iPhone collects images from the many new restaurants and streets I visit, although though my Canon hasn’t come out of its bag in too long. That needs to change. Below you’ll find some of my recent New York adventures.

Parade
Today I wandered around Chinatown for the first time. The new year celebrations were in full force with a parade, dancing dragons, colored confetti and music.

Beyond exploring new neighborhoods, I’m also exploring new activities. I bought 20 dance classes for $19, which I will start soon, and last week I started: Dodgeball!

I signed up through the New York Social Sports Club as a free agent and I got placed on a great team. After our victory, we headed over to the bar to play a rousing game of flip cup. Loving the chance to dodge balls with great new friends. I’m playing every Wednesday until the end of March. Then kickball maybe?

Treasures are bountiful at the Brooklyn Flea. Looks are free! I like coming here to get great design and artistic ideas.

All of that exploring I enjoyed a great meal at a local Peruvian chicken restaurant: Pio Pio Riko. I was going to get takeout, but when I heard the music and saw the open table, I decided to stay and dine. The vibe was great, they gave me a free glass of wine, and I had a delicious meal for $6.50 including tip! Sometimes you just need to get out of the house and takeout just doesn’t offer the same vibe.

Goodnight moon – there are sunsets here too. You just need to find the sunset in between the buildings.
