Last weekend in Columbia

This past weekend, I was able to watch the Mizzou v. San Diego State game from the sidelines. It’s not too often to be able to view a football game from the sidelines, almost close enough to touch the players (or get tackled by them). It was a great opportunity to use my new camera. My lens was a little far, but I was able to get some interesting shots. More than anything, it was a great experience standing on the sidelines along with Governor Jay Nixon, Coach Gary Pinkel and the many talented players and photographers.

It was certainly a memorable last weekend. On the drive back, I realized how mixed my emotions are about leaving. I have had some of my best experiences in Columbia. I learned a ton and got a degree while having an overall fun, enriching college experience. My jobs at Uprise Bakery and Sycamore Restaurant were two of the best jobs I had ever had and ensured that I would have fun and interact with great people during each shift. I met my best friends in Columbia, and while I’ve watched them move out of Columbia to gainful employment, I have waited for my turn. Alas, it is my turn… And it’s hard. It’s wonderful and exciting for my next step, but there’s so much I will miss in Columbia. I just have a week until I start filling my life with new experiences, challenges and people.
