Music fills the teacher’s lounge during our recess. A few teachers bring their guitars with them to class so they can jam out during one of the 20-minute breaks we have in our day. I like being around the music, the company and working with teachers who bring a guitar to school and play. Since I only have three classes per day, it gives me something to look forward to in between my classes.
Believe me, I look forward to my breaks. I could not get through my day without them. I collected six paper airplanes the other day in one class alone. Today, I spent an hour waiting for the students to settle down. (Last hour and a seemingly substitute teacher do not bode well for the attention span of some). I am preparing a lesson on Christmas for tomorrow and the next few days until….
DAVID COMES to Madrid on Thursday. Brother/sister adventures at last. Can you feel the excitement? The Parkinsons will be reunited again. I stayed in Madrid a couple of nights before and after puente and scoped out some things for us to do/see/experience. What I already saw includes the Botanical Gardens, some art and some shopping:
Guernica at the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía
Near Puerta del Sol
Next week, I visit my cousin in London for Christmas. I want to pet reindeer, learn about Charles Dickens, hear carols, see lights, eat figgy pudding and meet up with my MSN friends. And then when I get back, Parker comes to visit me in Spain. I am stressed about all of the travel, but at the same time, I need to take a step back and realize it’s okay. I’m living and teaching in Spain. This is my life for the next six months. Travel can be stressful, but I’m seeing people I love and care about, and once I am with them, all of the worries will subside. I am so lucky to be able to travel and work in Europe and see family and friends at the same time.
