Apples to apples

Fall means a multitude of things. Layers, scarves, boots, colored leaves, pumpkins and all of those happy things.

It also means one of the happiest thing in the world to me: FALL FESTIVALS.

I missed my favorite arts festivals in Lawrence this year, but I was able to attend this one.

What do you call a festival with sheep shearing, hay rides, pumpkin picking, apple cider, a flea market, a corn maize and fair food?

Perfect.

The air was crisp, the apples were ripe and it was a great day to enjoy the Apple Festival in at the Queens County Farm Museum. Just a short drive from the hustle and bustle of the city, you could come out and enjoy the weather and farm life.

It was glorious to spend a couple of hours in the fresh air. I try to forget how important that is while I’m trying to make it in New York, but stepping out is probably one of the best things you can do for your mental and physical health.

I learned all about how to shear a sheep. Pony rides, a petting zoo and crafts also were available.

If only the ponies were horses, I would have taken my turn too.

What’s up for this weekend? The Sunnyside Pumpkin Festival. Complete with music, crafts, Octoberfest activities and well, Pumpkins. See you there!
