It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Tree in Rockefeller Center
Spending the holiday season in New York is one of the most magical experiences! I have already seen the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center. I have visited Christmas markets that pop up all over the city as well as craft fairs with homemade goods. I can’t wait to ice skate in one of the many rinks around town. All in all, Christmas is purely a joyous time in New York, and I’m lucky to experience it this year.

Even Apple celebrates the season.

The windows in the storefronts are a complete art form. They come with moving parts, animations and interactive displays.

Lady GaGa designed the windows at Barneys. This window was by far the most unique and elaborate I had seen. There was a window where everything was made completely out of hair…

Walking inside can almost be as awe-inspiring as the windows. Although around this time, it can really be a challenge to fight the crowds.

Bergdorf Goodman got my attention with its elaborate displays with animals heads and prints. Each fancy dress juxtaposed a detailed, artistic scene. I got lost in the story of each one.

Lord and Taylor had a classy display with motion and kids’ drawings. It was a traditional Christmas display and I followed the story through each window.

I ended my ventures to view the windows at Macy’s. In addition to the moving figures, there was 3D animation and ways to interact with the windows. Creative displays to be sure!

I’m extremely impressed with the creativity, design and execution of the holiday windows. If you have the chance, check them out! I am amazed each day by something new in New York and can’t wait to see more decorations and markets and attend some Christmas parties. The countdown begins…
