Producing for Snippies

On a recent assignment for Snippies, a video marketing company, I was tasked with interviewing protesters and bystanders at Zuccotti Park in downtown Manhattan. The New York content of the video below represents some of the most insightful responses I heard, while the Los Angeles footage was captured by a fellow journalist on the west coast.

Since mid-September, Zuccotti Park has become Occupy Wall Street movement. This is, of course, just one of several demonstrations taking place all over the nation, spurring a much-needed discussion on several important issues facing our country, including economic disparity, bank bailouts and unemployment. As a journalist, it was great to be assigned such a controversial topic, and I found that people were eager to share their opinions. As you will see, interviewees included Brian Eno, the famous musician/producer/latter-day renaissance man. I feel that his comments were among the most prescient of all.

Early in the morning on Tuesday, November 15, the NYPD began a process of clearing Zuccotti Park. The story of OWS may be coming to an end, but the forces that drove people to become part of this movement and identify with the 99 percent clearly aren’t going to disappear anytime soon. More than anything, I feel honored to have played a small part within a much bigger story. There was a real sense of history being made in the moment and I’m very proud to have documented a small portion of that.
