My week in review

I’ve had such positive interactions this week, I just thought I would share a few of my New York networking and life adventures.

Monday – MasterCard Fashion Party. My mom invited me to a free event because she has a MasterCard. And considering some of the unique experiences they offer, I would be down for getting a MasterCard just to know about them.

There were a lot of high end fashion lines to look through, but since I didn’t actually NEED anything, I opted for the free gift bag, free appetizers and drinks. The aps were miniature burgers, blts and tacos. When I say mini, I mean very tiny and very posh. The gift bag had all types of great items including scarves, bath products, jewelry and coupons. This is not an advertisement for MasterCard, but they do put on a good event with a great gift bag. Visa, hint hint …

From there I headed to a Digital Media group. I went last month so I caught up with people who I met at the last one and made great new connections.

Tuesday – I headed to the MediaBistro event and met the lovely founder of the whole group. Considering I’m on MediaBistro a ton for job postings and great training resources, I had to attend this media mixer. Once again, great conversations although so many folks showed up, we had to shout over one another.

Wednesday – When all else fails, hit up the Mizzou Alumni Association. The alumni association put on an event with Executive Coach Trisha Scudder. We talked about the job search process, and I left with some great tips. I’ll do a separate post on this because it was so valuable – both for me and for anyone on a job search.

Thursday – After a long trip to Ikea, I attended the Digital Dumbo mixer. This event was their version of Fashion Night Out. They had a T-shirt launch party for Digital Dumbo in conjunction with Brooklyn Industries. Digital Dumbo is a creative space with a lot of digital and creative agencies, startups and other great companies. It’s all very creative and cool, and I’ve met some wonderful people. I even shared stories with a photographer from Lawrence. LAWRENCE! New York brings everyone together.

They say finding a job is a full time job. The process does keep me busy. However, the most fun I have in the job search process is attending these events, having great conversations and making connections.

Get ready for more fun this weekend including moving, shooting video at Occupy Wall Street and attending multiple fall festivals.
