There are many Cofradias, or Catholic brotherhoods, in Jerez. Each church has at least one confraternity that promotes the work of the association and the church. The Nuestro Padre Jesus brotherhood is a Cofradia of the Santa Maria church. On Saturday, Padre Jesus came together to celebrate the new painting in Santa Maria, the oldest church in Jerez. The Nuestro Padre Jesus performed several traditional Easter songs, which they will perform again in the Easter processions of holy Week.

Francisco Benavides is a local artist who painted the new church mural. He painted the faces of both his wife and his daughter in the mural. Above is the face of his daughter as the virgin Mary.
