Goooooolllll!

Spain is all about football. Football, football footballll…. And why shouldn’t it be? This is the year for Spain in sports. While I only caught a few World Cup games (the result of working in a place that showed the games), I still enjoy the sport. When in Spain, do as the Spanish do. That means watching football, going to football games and enjoying the sport.

Zafra is in blue. Don Benito is in red.
I was able to see a third division game in person. The American girl who has been so helpful invited me to watch her husband play for the Zafra team against Don Benito. What a cool experience. Sure, it wasn’t Real Madrid or Barcelona, but it was still cool. The fans care because this is their home team. The stands weren’t packed, but the other auxilares came to root on the team.

We chewed some pipas (sunflower seeds) and drank cokes as we huddled under a blanket to root on Zafra. They ended up losing, but I had so much fun watching someone I knew play the sport.

Enjoy the shark cloud
