Pets can often be the sole source of unconditional love and support for domestic violence victims. And yet, only about 15 percent of domestic violence shelters in the U.S. accept pets. Added to that, research shows 48 percent of domestic abuse survivors delay leaving because they can’t take their pet with them. Purina’s Purple Leash Project is working to change that.
